New Running Shoes

I was having this problem everytime on the treadmill at Orangetheory.  My left foot/calf, and to much smaller extent my right, would go completely numb about 8-10 minutes in.  I tried wearing one sock and then 2 socks, i tried drinking more water before and during the workout, I tried extra stretching before and after the treadmill.  Nothing seemed to help.  So I went to the trainer after class the other day and asked her what the hell to do.  She told me it is probably my shoes, which make total sense.  Because looking back when wearing these shoes I realized I have had this problem before, but have always been able to ignore it cause it never got this bad.  So I mention to this to my mom, and she tells me to stop by Runner’s Depot because they are very knowledgeable and usually have great deals.  So I go, and she is damn right that they are knowledgeable, and extremely friendly.  I walked in, immediately was greeted by a staff member.  She asks me a couple feeling questions, the standard what are you looking for, what type of exercise do you do, etc.  I also told her about my numbing problem.  She told me that the shoes I currently use are most likely too tight, not giving my foot enough room to swell when I run.  Duh, makes sense.  Then she has me take off my shoes and walk around the store.  From that she had all the information she needed to know exactly what shoe would be the best for me.  Then she measures me, and tells me I have a wide foot (news to me).  We chat for about 10 minutes about my walking style, and that it could lead to joint and back pain w/o the proper shoe.  Finally she is like ok, I’ve got the shoe for you.  Before I let her go I asked what is it gonna cost me?  This pair is $120 + tax.  Lol that is not happening, I’m looking for $80-90 range.  She was totally understanding, saying she gets people like me all the time, and she was gonna fit me for the shoe and once we got everything squared away give me all the information I need to find it elsewhere for cheaper.  When she told me this I was blown away, but it makes perfect sense.  She realized I may never buy from them no matter what she does, but by doing this she knows I will talk about and potentially drive more people to the store.  Anyway, we do the fitting and she gave me a great shoe, so much more room, hella lighter, and more stable than my current (soon to be former) pair.  I took a picture of the box (she also wrote it down for me on a business card), and I was on my way to the internet to find this for cheaper.  Welp, for this particular model I could only find it for the same price she was offering, but I did find the previous model of the shoe (she gave me GTS14, I got GTS13) for more than half off with no tax and free shipping.  I got a fucking steal.  I can’t wait to get the shoes and break them in.  From what I hear, the shoes can really make the difference.  Until then, I am going to loosen up my current shoes, that helped a little bit yesterday.
